Sono Direttrice del Centro per la Ricerca sui Bambini e le Famiglie della Mcgill University, uno psicologo clinico autorizzato, un professore ordinario alla Mcgill School of Social Work e un membro associato del Dipartimento di Pediatria. Ho tenuto la Tier II Canada Research Chair in Child Welfare dal 2008 al 2018 e ora ho la cattedra di Nicolas Steinmetz e Gilles Julien in Community Social Pediatrics. Ho fondato il gruppo di ricerca sulle Risposte Sociali ai Traumi Complessi (SR/CT) alla Mcgill University e recentemente ho ricevuto una borsa di studio per espandere questo lavoro e istituire il Consorzio Canadese per i Traumi Infantili e le Cure Traumatologiche (2020-2027). Il mio programma di ricerca cerca di comprendere meglio l'impatto di eventi di vita avversi e traumatici nella vita dei bambini e dei giovani, così come le loro esperienze con servizi orientati verso di loro. Ho l'obiettivo di promuovere e attuare risposte sociali più adatte a soddisfare le esigenze di questa popolazione spesso emarginata e delle loro famiglie. Ho pubblicato 150 libri, capitoli di libri, articoli peer-reviewed e articoli professionali. Siedo nei consigli di molte istituzioni influenti, come la Child Welfare League of Canada, la Dr Julien’s Foundation e il Child Protection Center della Pontificia Università Gregoriana. La mia influenza si riflette nella mia partecipazione a consultazioni di esperti organizzate da diversi ministeri, nonché nella citazione del mio lavoro nelle relazioni sulla politica e sull'assistenza all'infanzia. Il mio lavoro di ricerca è spesso presente nei media cartacei e televisivi/radiofonici. Ho addestrato più di 3.000 professionisti di varie discipline in pratiche traumatologiche.

I am the Director of the Centre for Research on Children and Families at McGill University, a licensed clinical psychologist, a Full Professor at the McGill School of Social Work and an Associate Member in the Department of Pediatrics. I held the Tier II Canada Research Chair in Child Welfare from 2008-2018 and I am now holding the Nicolas Steinmetz and Gilles Julien Chair in Community Social Pediatrics. I have established the research group on Social Responses to Complex Trauma (SR/CT) at McGill University and have recently received a Partnership grant to expand this work and establish the Canadian Consortium on Child Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care (2020-2027). My program of research seeks to better understand the impact of adverse and traumatic life events in the lives of children and youth, as well as their experiences with services geared towards them. I aim to promote and implement social responses which are better suited to meet the needs of this often marginalized population and their families. I have published 150 books, book chapters, peer-reviewed articles and professional articles. I sit on the boards of many influential institutions, such as the Child Welfare League of Canada, the Dr Julien’s Foundation and the Child Protection Center of the Gregorian Pontifical University. My influence is reflected by my participation in expert consultations organized by different ministries as well as through the citation of my work in policy and child welfare reports. My research work is often featured in printed and television/radio media. I have trained over 3,000 professionals from various disciplines in trauma-informed practices.
