Christine A. Courtois, Phd, ABPP, è laureata in psicologia del counseling presso l'Università del Maryland ed è psicologa autorizzato in DC e MD.  La Dottoressa Courtois ha ricevuto un riconoscimento internazionale per il suo lavoro sugli effetti dell'incesto, abusi sessuali sui bambini, disturbi da stress traumatici complessi e altri tipi di trauma e ha ricevuto premi da numerose organizzazioni professionali. È una psicoterapeuta (con ampia esperienza nel trattamento ambulatoriale e ospedaliero), leader di workshop e consulente specializzato in condizioni e disturbi post-traumatici e dissociativi. Il suo approccio è integrativo, relazionale e traumatologico, basato sul rispetto per il cliente e la sua/ la sua esperienza di vita.
La Dottoressa Courtois è stata recentemente nominata presidente dell'American Psychological Association PTSD Guidelines Development Panel. Questo gruppo di 11 esperti provenienti da varie professioni di salute mentale si riunirà nel corso dei prossimi due anni per esaminare le revisioni della letteratura pertinente e le linee guida esistenti con l'obiettivo di produrre linee guida di trattamento aggiornate basate su queste risorse.

Christine A. Courtois, PhD, ABPP, is a graduate of the Counseling Psychology program at the  University of Maryland and a licensed psychologist in DC and MD. Dr. Courtois has received international recognition for her work on the effects of incest, child sexual abuse, complex traumatic stress disorders and other types of trauma and has received awards from numerous professional organizations. She is a psychotherapist (with broad experience in outpatient and inpatient treatment), workshop leader, and consultant specializing in posttraumatic and dissociative conditions and disorders. Her approach is integrative, relational, and trauma-referenced, based upon respect for the client and his/her life experience.
Dr. Courtois has recently been appointed chair of the American Psychological Association PTSD Guidelines Development PanelThis group of 11 appointed experts from various mental health professions will meet over the course of the next two years to examine relevant literature reviews and existing guidelines with the goal of producing updated treatment guideline recommendations based on these resources.
