Karen Skerrett è psicologa clinica, infermiera registrata per la pratica avanzata, autrice e consulente. Nel corso degli ultimi 35 anni, ha lavorato in una varietà di contesti: dal mondo accademico al business alla clinica. È specializzata in approcci sistemici basati sui punti di forza per coppie e famiglie, in particolare quelle afflitte da malattie o da handicap. La sua ricerca si focalizza sui processi di resilienza e crescita relazionale, e sullo sviluppo di narrazioni di guarigione nel corso della vita. La dottoressa Skerrett ha conseguito un M.S. in infermieristica psichiatrica presso la St. Xavier University e un M.A. & PhD. in sviluppo umano e psicologia presso l'Università di Chicago. Ha fatto parte delle facoltà dell'Università dell'Illinois a Chicago, dell'Adler Institute e del Chicago Center for Family Health. Dal 2007 al 2013 è stata prof.ssa associata presso l'Università di San Diego, dove ha gestito il primo programma di dottorato in Advanced Practice Mental Health Nursing nel sud della California. Più recentemente è stata Prof.ssa Clinica Associata presso il Family Institute/Center for Applied Psychological Studies della Northwestern University. È autrice di numerosi articoli e capitoli, ed è co-autrice di due libri sulle coppie, una biografia e un libro prossimo alla pubblicazione: Growing Married: Stories for a Lifetime of Love.

Karen Skerrett is a licensed clinical psychologist, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, author and consultant. Over the past 35 years, she has worked in a variety of settings from academic to business and clinical. She specializes in systemic, strength based approaches to couples and families, particularly those challenged by illness and disability. Her research focuses on processes of relational resilience and growth and the development of healing narratives across the lifespan. Dr. Skerrett received an M.S in Psychiatric Nursing from St. Xavier University and an M.A & PhD. in Human Development and Psychology from the University of Chicago. She has been on the faculties of the University of Illinois at Chicago, Adler Institute and the Chicago Center for Family Health. From 2007- 2013, she was an Associate Professor at the University of San Diego where she developed the first doctoral program in Advanced Practice Mental Health Nursing in southern California. Most recently she was an Associate Clinical Professor at the Family Institute/Center for Applied Psychological Studies at Northwestern University. She is the author of numerous journal articles, book chapters and is the co-author of two books on couples, a memoir and the forthcoming book: Growing Married: Stories for a Lifetime of Love.
