Cherie Armour insegna Traumi psicologici e salute mentale presso la Scuola di psicologia della Queens University Belfast. La professoressa Armour è direttrice del Centro di ricerca per lo stress, il trauma e le condizioni correlate (STARC). Cherie ha pubblicato molto nel campo della psicotraumatologia e della salute mentale. Cherie ha un interesse particolare per i gruppi professionali che sono a maggior rischio di subire traumi e stress traumatico a causa del loro ruolo professionale, per esempio i militari, la polizia e i lavoratori dei servizi di emergenza. Cherie ha anche pubblicato sulla nosologia, la comorbilità e il decorso longitudinale di disturbi quali PTSD, C-PTSD, dissociazione, ansia e depressione. La professoressa Armour tiene regolarmente presentazioni a conferenze e viene invitata a tenere discorsi chiave a conferenze ed eventi in tutto il mondo. Cherie ha ricevuto diversi premi per i suoi contributi al campo della ricerca sullo stress traumatico e si è assicurata milioni di sterline di finanziamenti per sostenere il suo programma di ricerca. La professoressa Armour è l'ex presidente della UK Psychological Trauma Society (UKPTS) ed è attualmente un Associate Editor dell'European Journal of Psychotraumatology, oltre ad essere un membro del consiglio della International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). La professoressa Armour ricopre una serie di posizioni editoriali in diverse riviste leader a livello internazionale, ad esempio il Journal of Anxiety Disorders, il Journal of Traumatic Stress Studies e Psychological Trauma, Theory, Research, Practice and Policy.

Cherie Armour is a Professor of Psychological Trauma and Mental Health in the School of Psychology at Queens University Belfast. Professor Armour is the Director of the Research Centre for Stress, Trauma, and Related Conditions (STARC). Cherie has published extensively in the field of Psychotraumatology and Mental Health. Cherie has a particular interest in occupational groups that are at increased risk of experiencing trauma and traumatic stress outcomes due to their occupational roles, for example, military, police, and emergency service workers.  Cherie has also published on the nosology, comorbidity, and longitudinal course of disorders such as PTSD, C-PTSD, dissociation, anxiety, and depression. Professor Armour regularly delivers conference presentations and is invited to deliver keynote speeches at conferences and events across the world. Cherie has received several awards for her contributions to the field of traumatic stress research and has secured millions of pounds of research funding to support her programme of research. Professor Armour is the past president of the UK Psychological Trauma Society (UKPTS) and is currently an Associate Editor of the European Journal of Psychotraumatology, in addition to being a board member of the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). Professor Armour holds a number of editorial positions on several internationally leading journals, for example, the Journal of Anxiety Disorders, the Journal of Traumatic Stress Studies, and Psychological Trauma, Theory, Research, Practice and Policy.
